What can I expect during the first session of an endodontic procedure?

This appointment is usually longer than a consultation, which is usually called investigation. The main aim of Endodontic Investigation is to see whether your tooth can be saved through root canal treatment or not. If the tooth is badly broken down, has a large decay or lost a large segment of its crown, the tooth might not be salvageable. Thus, you will need to see your dentist to remove your tooth.
If the tooth can be saved, another session/s will be arranged for you in a timely manner to clean and disinfect your root canals, to change the medications inside your root canals and finally to fill the root canals. These procedures might normally take up to 8 weeks to finish, even though it might take longer to be complete if there is a large inflammation or infection in your bone around the roots of your tooth.
